Abstract
Throughout my internship, I completed the redesign and updating of the admissions package, brochures for internal parent communications, an advertisement for the Westmount Independent, and two 1.5hrs-2hrs videos of school events. With the partnership between Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School and Sid Lee, I learned a lot about rebranding through advertisement, PR, design, and how to implement them all together into a cohesive brand. Learning of the persona of the school and supplemental pillars of the rebrand taught me how to understand the new direction of the school and how to translate concepts and theories into designs. One aspect of my internship that I really appreciated was the debrief sessions with my supervisor. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend meetings with Sid Lee but after each meeting my supervisor would discuss and show me the presentation from Sid Lee and explain each presentation and asked for my input on designs or conceptual choices. Though I was not part of the bigger process, I still felt part of the overall team. Outside of my learning through Sid Lee, I learned to how to better communicate with different departments to understand what they wanted out of requested designs and how best to transform their ideas into cohesive designs.
My most notable outcome was my edit of the Junior School Musical. This was the longest edit on Premier Pro I have completed and it was a challenge working with multiple camera angles and microphones. Overall it was a challenge but am proud of the outcome and believe that families of students in the production appreciated the skill and magnitude of the work.
